Air freight from China: compare chargeable weight and delivery scope

Air cargo pricing depends on chargeable weight, route, capacity, cargo characteristics and handling. Request the applicable dimensional divisor, rounding rules, minimums and surcharges in writing. An express parcel rate and an airport-to-airport cargo rate may cover different services.

Calculate from the packed cargo

Provide the dimensions and gross weight of each packed carton or pallet. Compare actual weight with dimensional weight using the calculation specified in the quotation. A divisor of 6,000 is a common air-cargo example, not a universal rule for every carrier or express service.

Compare complete options

There is no universal 150-to-200-kg boundary where air becomes cheaper than sea. Compare collection, export handling, main transport, import handling and final delivery alongside the operational cost of waiting. Confirm whether the estimate ends at the airport or the receiving address.

Disclose special cargo before booking

Tell the forwarder about batteries, liquids, powders, magnets and oversized pieces. Acceptance, packaging, documentation and aircraft restrictions depend on the exact product and carrier review. A safety data sheet alone does not establish that a shipment is acceptable.

Confirm departure and arrival milestones

Provide the cargo-ready date and required delivery date. Flight availability, cut-offs, screening, customs release and last-mile delivery must be checked before confirming a schedule. Do not treat an unconfirmed estimate as a guaranteed departure.
